note where did the term come from
 In the early/mid eighties we kayaking on the Watauga (its was considered the "shite" back then) we started running the drop below Stateline (back then we walked Stateline) from right to left to avoid going deep and hitting bottom (13' long glass boats)... the drop has a little kicker that made us land flat in the eddy and our boats were making a funny noise that sounded like booof... Donnie Hudspeth was the first person that I can recollect using the term Boof to describe the sound his boat was making. It was after running "boof" falls that we started figuring out hold to boof other drops. Woody
