One of the problems with being too small for a planing hulled boat is engaging the chines in a turn, like catching eddies and pealing out.. Small people tend to flat spin across eddy lines in big boats.
I think it's less of a problem in displacement hulled boats like the Nomad.
You should try to hook up with a local club or something and try different boats. Even in a pool. Just racing from one end of the pool to the other and seeing how the different boats turn would probably be enlightening.
