note Check out Peter Heller's book: Hell or High Water: Surviving Tibet's Tsangpo River
For my money, the best kayaking read period. It's Heller's first-hand account of Scott Lindgren's expedition to the Tsangpo. Heller is a damn good writer and a fairly accomplished boater (to hear him tell it in the book) and is able to describe the size and ferocity of the river (and the ambition of the expedition) in a way that a person without that experience might struggle.
