I'm working for a while in Kellogg and I'm itching to run the South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene from Mullan down to Wallace in the next few days - it looks like continuous splashy fun. However, I've noticed a few things that I'd like a little info on. First, there's a nasty looking river wide tree between the Mullan and west Mullan exits on I-90, and I'm thinking that somewhere below this might be the best area to get in the river. Second, I think that the river is squeezed between very high concrete walls around the I-90 viaduct through Wallace, and it appears that the river might actually go through a tunnel here. Where are the best access spots for this river, is this tunnel trap, and are there any more known nasty strainers besides the one I've seen? Any info would be awesome, or if anyone is coming up to paddle this area, I'd love to tag along on this or any other good runs in the area.
