Mamba, Diesel, Hero, Remix, Nomad; sized appropriately. Since you added "when I was younger" & "my wife" to your description, I would advise against downsizing. Unless your sights are set on becoming a Class 5+ paddler, why make it harder than it has to be?
The above advice is given by someone who started out at 42 in playboat and got the shit kicked out of them for the first two years and was about to give it up. I got a Diesel and started running easy creeks in it and now wouldn't trade my Nomad for anything in the world.
Global advice rarely is correct, but really; unless you enjoy getting the shit kicked out of you, don't undersize your boat.
