Types of boats you paddle (eg. kayak, raft, C-1, squirt, etc.): FrankenGUS, Sotar, play, squirt (not really - just getting into that), handmade slalom (in need of repair)
First Season (year): 1999
Favorite Class: IV
Favorite Runs: Almost anything on the Plateau, and in the Smokies.
I like to kayak. I used to enjoy running the hardest, or most challenging things I could find. Now I enjoy almost all the time I get in my boat the same. I like those 2-3 foot boofs just as much as the 20 footers, and my back likes them even more.

I like to raft too. Learned to guide on the New River in West By-God Virginia working for the Boy Scouts. Cut my teeth there, and it always feels like home. Took the worst swim of my life in that state too.

Always looking for new and interesting people to paddle with, but you have to be willing to put up with my normal group. Not that we're normal, but we probably are.

I've been all over this country to explore whitewater, but not to any others. Yet. Whitewater has been, and continues to, be a very important part of my life. I try to appreciate each experience I'm fortunate enough to have. And to not take for granted the place that I live.

I live in a log home, like cast iron, and try to play a drum set. No I don't like long walks on the beach, I'd rather sit in the sand and drink a beer.

I like maps, and that's the easiest way to explain my profession. I was able to paddle many days a year while in school, but it's easier to skip class than work. Now I'm lucky if I get both days of the weekend to paddle.

Such is life. It is what you make of it.
