I have been surfing the Spyder since the world championships in Ireland last year. I really enjoy the boat. It accelerates impressively when the front edge is engaged. Its stable, especially off the lip, making lip moves easily landable. The boat does better in steeper surf, it will go in smaller surf, but you gotta work it a little. If its truly crap surf the boat has some trouble. However, I am really happy with the boat. I've since gotten a new one, and the layup is pretty impressive on it. Smooth finish, super stiff hull, great job on seamlessly glassing the fin boxes in. The boat will be an easy step for someone coming from the whitewater side of things, and still offers much for the more agressive kayak surfer. As always, its a good idea to try one out, I have a demo one in the south if you are in the area.
As for production, unfortunately the boat was held up for a bit due to touring boat production demands, but last I heard they are in production now. email me for more details.
