I started out board surfing (stand-up) when I was 14yrs old, but at 25 I was discharged from the Army after being involved in an incident that left me without the full use of both legs. I moved back with my parents and it just happens that my home town (at the time) had considerably more kayak surfers than any other type of surfers, and so that was what I did. Ski's interest me but I like the leg protection I get in a kayak (from the wet and the cold, both of which can give me merry hell), even though it takes a lot of foam carving to make a boat comfortable for me. If I could go back to using my legs properly I'd surf everything I could get my hands on; skis, boats, kneeboards, bodyboards, SUPboards, longboards, shortboards, fish, etc...
My current state of surfing is born of necessity, but I still enjoy every glorious minute of it
Except like now when it's flat
