Inside the boneyard on smaller 12' to 15' faces.  Surfed much bigger offshore at Piedre Pt outside of Linda Mar where wave waters out over deep water before getting to shore or rocks and same at Fort Pt.  Size is not so much the issue as is where the wave is going to take you if you're stuck in soup.  Flotation of attached kayak actually makes the hold down 'almost' non existent compared to stand up surfing and low CG as well as ability to continue to surf off axis (old  glass prototype X w/out fins) allows recovers that would never be possible on tow in board or gun.  Also allows you to surf much junkier conditions.  Personally because of these differences, I feel much more comfortable surfing large wave condition in boat than on board.  And for context I've been stand up surfing for more than 35 years.
