having never been surf kayaking, i've read about ettiquate and whatnot...but will i be hassled?

also, i'm planning on using a squirt boat with hard chines. am i likely to get drilled by shorebreak?

i'm determined to paddle something while i visit. i can only handle flat land for so long.
