You could pick up a cheap used ww boat to see what that's about. Generally you'll want one that is longer and faster than the typical rodeo boat. Sharper rear rails and a flatter lower rocker stern are useful. Google some of the older necky WW boats (no longer made) such as a rip. Fluid element is a hybrid WW rodeo / surf boat. Some folks use rodeo boats and focus a lot of their energy on the broken wave for cartwheels and such. If you keep at it, eventually you should check out the glass surf specific mega style boats.
