I'm just of the opinion that most rafts can do a whole lot more than how they are normally used.  And sometimes there are features where I would prefer the stiffness and added protection a full raft provides.  Inflatable cats just have such high seating positions and once you get REALLY verticle I prefer to be way down low on the floor of a raft with a cushion of air all the way around.

Knkow anyone selling a inflatable cat cheap?  I've been looking for one for exactly what we are discussing but just don't see how you can beat the value of the hyside ones on sale.
