Non self-bailers are lighter.  It is just a simple layer of fabric for the floor, instead of an "air matress" style that the self-bailers have.

A "bucket boat" is much easier to move around out of the water, which might be something to consider.

Also, I think 12 footer is about perfect size to be large enough to be pretty stable on easy water, but allow a little gear, a dog, and a row frame.

Also check out something like the Aire Puma.
