With a bucket boat it makes more of a difference, with a self bailer the air floor itself will give some even when loaded.  The real question is how much weight.  A 150 quart cooler that with ice and food that weighs 300 lbs with 2 people sitting on it for a total of 600lbs should really be supported by the tubes.

However personally I never think twice about a huge pile of gear bags in the back on the floor.  And when I do multi-day trips as a paddle boat there is no frame involved, everything goes on the floor.  For these paddle trips we go closer to backpacker style and bring a smaller cooler - 50-75 quart range. No dry box, just bags, and keep the weight on the lower end.

I would love to hear from anyone who has actually damaged the floor of their self bailer due to gear being loaded on it. Not because i like to hear about damage, it sucks but because I think this is a very rare occurrence.  I am sure it is possible, I just haven't ever seen it or met anyone who has done it.
