I saw one at Cisco on Sunday and wasn't impressed by the construction but it had run Westwater and looked like a pretty heavy duty boat still.  I wonder how one would last if you coated one with Urethane.  

Lets look at the economics of the purchase:

Lets say the boat's $1200 and still holding together well after 5 years that you sell it for $600.  You've had a SB for $120/year or $4/day (assuming 30 days/yr) and maybe by then you can afford some better rubber.  There's a reason to pick up a cheap boat when you're just getting into the sport - you know, before you realize you've adopted a lifestyle...
