Unlike the thrillseeker, the stiletto uuses footpegs, not foot cups. The foam is a closed cell ethafoam coated with a waterproofing agent. My experience over three years of >100 days on the water and hiking/portaging/seal launching/swimming/wrapping etc is that the foam is quite durable.
The thing to look out for is the coating earing through. Particularly vulnerable points are under the heels.
I've heard that sanding the foam down, letting it dry thoroughly in the sun for a few days, then coatin with a 2 part urethane precoat before using the plastic dip that they come with makes a big difference.
But, even with the coating trashed, the only penalty is a little water weight in the foam -- the boat still performs great.
