I know people that do it both during season and off season, but many of the good spots are private.

I have to agree about the road, one reason that I'm more than willing to let them shuttle my gear for 5 bucks. Even with all the improvements, the bottom is still pretty dicey, especially if it's a little wet. The road at the top is better than the road to Bucklick.

This is still the best option for private rafters for both the Upper and Lower.
