th_up My favorite all-around raft is the NRS Otter, but I second the Hyside suggestion.

The Otter is great. It's small enough. It's big enough. It's light enough. BUT we use it in the Appalachians, and what we do with it would probably be labeled "creek rafting". So for out west it's probably on the small side. But then again, I've oar-rigged a Puma(very small raft) for a week and it was great.

I bought an old, old Hyside and the quality is extraordinary. It's got lots of life left. Good customer service as well for a restoration project.
