Considering children as your crew, you need a boat small enough to handle with 2 people, yet large enough to carry 4 with gear. I suggest 12-13 feet, no larger. Pumas are fantastic, I have one, but not large enough for what you wish to do. NRS does make a nice raft in that size. You cannot go wrong with an Aire raft. I consider them the best for the money. I also have a super puma, and I feel that would be ideal for you. Easy to handle, with plenty of room. Light to carry, and since it is narrower than other rafts of similar size it works well on some of the rivers in your area at low water. It may be possible to demo certain rafts from some manufacturers, that may help you make a decision. It never hurts to ask their sales reps. Keep in mind, they don't make any money if they don't sell. They will help.
