 Low-maintenance side decks
My latest set of high density polyethylene HDPE)side decks on my rowing frame have developed cracks again. Yeah, probably not enough frame support but I do not want to make my frame assembly heavier. And on that point, the HDPE is heavier than I prefer when lifting my frame up to my rack on top my truck topper. I am thinking about plywood (marine grade or otherwise) and have all shop tools and skills necessary to do what I want, but I do not like the idea of having to maintain the wood over the years. They would look good with my Gull ash/fir oars but after 35 years rafting, I am trying to lessen work and maintenance involved with all my gear. Has anyone tried anything different lately with which they are satisfied? Any new ideas on low-maintenance, low-weight, material that is fairly easy to work with? Doing the Middle Fork of the Salmon in a couple of weeks and do not have time for reinventing the wheel. Thanks much.
