I used to work for Planned Parenthood.* When my husband and I bought our first house, the previous owners, who were Catholics, apparently noticed my occupation on the closing papers, and felt it was their moral obligation to try to pull me from the wreckage of my life. They thoughtfully left a plastic bloody fetus, along with several graphic pamphlets, in the kitchen drawer. So there we were, excited first-time homeowners, about to unpack the silverware, and surprise!
*Actually, I used to work for a non-affiliated woman's clinic that was bought out by PP about 5 years into my tenure. We didn't perform abortions in my clinic until a year after the merger. When they installed bullet-proof glass in my office, that's when felt it was time to move on.
