...but, has anyone ever thought about who the greatest Pop acts have been?  It comes to mind because last night Letterman's guest was Pierce Brosnan, shilling for some awful thing named "Mama Mia" which is based upon ABBA's songs.

Ideas?  Let's start around the mid-60s so we don't clutter it up with all those Elvis's and Buddy Hollys and Jerry Lee Lewis's.

Beatles, fo' sho', even though they also top anyone's Rock list.  And, for me, yes, ABBA (guilty pleasure) and Cyndi Lauper (no guilt there).  Uhh, from England we have Elton John and we have the Sex Pistols.  From the US there's Simon and Garfunkel (collectively and individually).  Er, ah... I'm kinda running out of idea here.  There must have bin some other Pop acts that didn't suck.  Haven't there?
