Jim is probably one for the people most responsible for me being a curious little kid back in the early 70's. Not a Sunday went by without me watching Wide World of Sports. It's only now in the days of obnoxious, self-absorbed sportscasting that I can look back on the way Jim understatedly made the stories of even the most obscure sports and athletes compelling, rather than showcasing his own personality. That show, as well as his work in the Olympics and other events, broadened my horizons, as it did for many of us and for the world. There will never be another Jim McKay.
