Folks on the NPR story were crying about how much farmer's expenses have gone up. That's certainly true - farmers use a LOT of fuel, and most fertilizers are made using petroleum products in one form or another. OK, so let's help farmers who are in financial *trouble*. But presuming their expenses are deductible like those in most other businesses, why should we be handing free cash to businesses that are making a profit?
