His campaign came and went, he was out of money, out of staff, out of time, written off. Several other R candidates were running prominent races in early states. McCain wasn't even being discussed anymore.
And then - out of nowhere - he reappeared. Got tons of press coverage in venues that weren't even speaking his name the week before. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, he swept all other contenders from the field in a remarkably short time and was announced in the press as the default R nominee.
If you want to talk about someone with whom the press is "giving the love", ignore Obama and look at McCain. At least Obama has been in the race continuously from Day One. McCain was a washed-up, out-of-money and -momentum has been until the press started talking about him again... and suddenly nobody else mattered and everyone else was gone except McCain.
Just another thing about McCain that gives me the creeps.
Perhaps the media is designing a McCain-Obama race for their own reasons. Who knows. One thing is certain: McCain is a larger beneficiary than Obama of the media's "love", by a very long ways. The media is the only reason McCain is even in the race today, not to mention being the R frontrunner.
