We just had a friend of a friend as a houseguest, while she was getting special medical care. She has a mitochondrial disorder that manifested itself after a period of stress. Quite debilitating. I believe I heard her say that one of her kids has the disorder also.

Because mitochondria carry their own DNA, I cannot conceive of a way to correct such a disorder except to introduce mitochondria with normal DNA coding. The best way to do this is by using donated mitochondria from those with normal function. There might be some unintended consequence from this, but there is no way that mitochondria could cause a recipient to resemble Romney or Linwood.
