If someone making minimum wage is required to buy health insurance now or face a financial penalty, is there an affordable option available for them to buy?

You'll most likely end up paying the penalty. Affordable insurance is an oxymoron.

And...if you don't pay the penalties, you'll likely be incarcerated - which ironically, then you get free healthcare.

So gov't run health care is like being in prison. I knew it felt like our liberties were eroding.

Until someone is actually jailed, this is just fear mongering... but I like it that you treat it as reality.

Both your website and the info from Otto suggest that she would likely be getting medicaid.

That is what you will continue to have if you can't afford to buy insurance under Obamacare...

Your insurance premium could be free or at a price you can afford

If you are single, I believe the penalty will only be $750/ year. I'm not sure what happens w/ dependents yet..........

I don't know how the IRS plans to collect. You know most folks aren't going to save $750. I see this like...

At this point, they will only be able to collect if you are due a return on your taxes.

For a single person earning minimum wage, insurance will cost around $500/year.

Would it be accurate to say that those who qualify for Medicaid are expected to go that route...
RandyH

That's probably a safe assumption.

You will have re-branded Medicaid. Unless the govt requires participation
