"the church" is not an individual and has no rights. it is an organization. I could care less about it. individuals with moral dilemmas should act on their own to solve their moral dilemma. their solution may or may not be the solution I choose and SHOULD have no bearing on my own moral dilemma decisions.

an entity, having no soul, no being, is incapable of having moral dilemmas. an entity that employs people, however, is responsible to the laws of the land. an entity that cannot be responsible to the laws of the land has no right to exist in the land.

the catholic church has a fabulous history of healthcare and service to the poor. in many places, these are the ONLY resource for those in need...and those who need jobs. the question becomes, are they doing it for the good of the people or the glory of the church. it appears to me, as an outsider, that, in this argument, it's more about the glory of the church than actual service to those who need assistance.
