I wouldn't have gone, since I don't know any of the Democratic candidates for local or state office, and I will not be able to vote for a Republican until they pull their heads out of their asses, but the "Defense of Marriage Act" was on the ballot.

So, I voted to defend the institution of marriage. I voted to defend it against those pointy-headed, pencil-dicked douchebags who would withhold that right from a significant number of citizens (as many as 10%, I believe it has been found to be) who cannot find satisfaction with a member of the opposte sex.

This was a real sleazy trick by the Republicans, to put it on the Primary ballot in a year when the Democratic candidate for the President is running unchallenged, so, clearly, many more Republicans are likely to vote than Democrats. Stacking the deck in favor of bigotry and the denial of rights to fellow citizens. Ain't that just like a Republican?

Since I am an independent (I think, technically, in NC I am registered as "Unaffiliated") I had my choice of which primary to vote in. Well, it seemed like a bonus opportunity to vote against that jello-brained Congresscreep Virginia Fox, and against the empty suit Mitt Romney, so I took the Republican ballot. Sigh, Fox was running unopposed so I didn't get to vote against her. For President the options were Gingrich, Paul, Romney, Santorum, and someone else. I couldn't decide whether Gingrich or Santorum might do best against Romney, and they are both so odious that it was hard to choose between them, but I finally settled on voting for Gingrich. Take that, Shit Romney!

So, in the end, all I got to do was vote for Gingrich and against the smelly "Defense of Marriage Act" (like, seriously, it would HURT marriage, in an era when 50% of marriages end in divorce, to allow more committed couples to marry? How fucking stupid do you have to BE to be a Republican or a fundamentalist "Christian"?).
