Not sure why everyone is zeroing in on my fat analogy. What about ugly? You don't think fat and ugly kids are subjected to incredible cruelty while growing up among their piers? You don't think it ever reaches such levels that it leads to lifelong struggles with self worth and even suicide for these folks? What about gays? We have examples of gays being treated similarly to your example of blacks, and while it IS condemned, it doesn't receive the same amount of attention as racially motivated incidents.

But mostly, my point is regarding the moral failure involved in any kind of treatment that is based on superficial traits. They are all wrong in my opinion, none more or less so than another. The ONLY reason race issues might should get more attention is because of the climate they are most likely to cause conflict and even lead to civil unrest.
