I didn't say unemployment is not bad. Trends are temporary...they are a moving target. Why? Because a thousand variables create trends. To effect a trend, we have to understand, identify and effect the variables that are most effecting the trend. Everyone can agree that high unemployment is bad. But high unemployment is NOT a trend. It is a state. We currently have high unemployment, but it is TRENDING downward. So if I'm only looking at the TREND, by your argument, we're fine. Nothing needs to be done.
