Doesn't the logic that you are praying for some one to help their situation, sort of imply that if you don't pray for them, their situation will not get any better, or could even get worse? The concept reminds me of a scam Facebook posting that was circulating a while back. It had a picture of a baby with cancer, with the caption something to the effect that "If 1 million people like this post, this kid will get a liver transplant." It almost suggested that some one was withholding medical treatment from this poor kid until 1,000,000 Facebook "likes" are generated? If only 999,999 people liked the post, sorry kiddo, no new liver, not enough people liked you, the kid with 1,000,000 likes gets the liver instead.
Isn't praying for people kind of the same concept. If not enough people are praying for a person, is God going to withhold divine intervention until the number of incoming prayers reaches a certain level? What about some poor sap that is cut off from human communication and has no means of recruiting pray-ers to help get God on board with some divine assistance? Is God really so cruel. Does he need our feedback in order to prioritize where to send his help?
I'm not and expert on Christianity or the bible or on praying, and I may be missing something, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that God and Jesus my appreciate your actual action to help some one in need, instead of your prayers. If some one is in the hospital, are you going to pray for them or donate money to help cover there medical bills. Are you going to pray to God that the family members are strong enough to handle the situation, or are you going to actually contact the family members and offer your support? Which is course of action is likely to have more impact?
Wrong! I'm an atheist and I particularly remember some serious down time at National Falls and Sockem Dog! <NT> Oci-One.Kanubi New
I'm not concerned about the "how" part, I'm more interested in the "why" of it. <NT> Pinecricker New
If it were a business related phone call, I would find that quite tacky if not offensive... Pinecricker New
you are mentioning prayer as intercession. maybe thru the discipline of prayer... God is working more on you than euphoria New
Actually, I think its just a bullshit excuse people use when they are too lazy to truly help some one... Pinecricker New
