I think when it comes down to being involved with kayaking versus other aspects of life,
it comes down to 'time'. Think about how few of our rivers (with the exception of dam controlled)
have a set time or date as to when they will be running. Also note the distance we drive to
indulge in our passion. Those two factors were the biggest I notice with my first marriage.
But, no matter how much you try to plan ahead, that BIG rain storm is going to hit the same
time she/he wants to do something they have had planned for months.
I believe it boils down to finding a mate who understands this is a part of your life. It's what makes
you.......YOU!
Me personally, I feel that when you meet that special someone, they have fallin for a certain reason,
if not more. If kayaking is that big a part of your life, they should have picked up on it from the get-go.
Most kayakers I've met feel having a partner that paddles is a match made in heaven. But even then, you
don't spend (the average Joe/Jane that is) every day out paddling, so there has to be some 'off the water'
qualities that brought you together in the first place.
Bottom line, I admire you for coming out asking such a question on a public forum, but the answer
relies all on you and your love for this person.
Reach deep in your heart, and the true answer will come out in the end! |
