brian was a roommate of mine a few years ago on the GAuley.  his enthusiasm for paddling was immediately infectios to everyone around him.  he obviously lived for the river experience.i have not kicked it with him that much inasheville but he was a constant on the river  if something like this could happen to such a solid individual and paddler as brian it could happen to anyone.i send my grief to his family and all his tight boys. this is the hardest way to learn how powerful the river may be and how precious each day really is
