note Respons to "We Run Hair in a Raft out West" New

To whoever posted the email that big stuff has already been run out West a couple of days of ago I have a few questions?

1.  Do you know of any rapids that have been run CLEANLY in a raft that are more difficult than Gorilla at 250%????

I've seen footage of people flailing down South Silver (steep, but very straightforward run) and I've run most of the big runs you've mentioned and to be honest with you most of them ARE NOT that technical.  Wow, lets jump in a raft like a bunch of idiots, chug a few beers, and bounce down some waterfalls.  Lets get in a boat, hug a thwart, say "Dear Jesus, Allah, Buddah" please keep me alive because my rafting skills won't.  Why do you think kayakers have zero respect for rafters.  Finally someone is taking class V+ rafting seriously and you've got to bring us down.

Perhaps Prospect Falls on the North Fork of the Rogue (Avenue of the Boulders) in 2002 was bigger than Gorilla....only two people had ever KAYAKED that rapid before us...Kale Frieze and Jud Lehman........check out the trailer on www.ashlandmine.com there is a quick shot of the last drop.....and if you swim on that rapid then you swim into a 1/4 of a mile class VI+ boulder sieve (and I'm not exaggerating).  The Knapp bros live in S.Oregon and they haven't touched the biggest rapids on the Avenue of the Boulders.  And I'm not ripping on them at all...they are as good as it gets.

I can say this, I've never had more fun on ANY rapid than I did hucking the monkey in a raft w/John Tribble

2.  Talk is cheap......if you're so confident that bigger rapids can be run, then why don't you go run them????

Oh, wait, you're probably some fat slob who guides on the highly overated Gore Canyon.

I apologize to anyone else reading this for coming off as arrogant, but sometimes you've got to fight fire w/fire.

Sincerely,

JimmyG
