I've been seeing my gf for about 1 year now this coming Aug. I live appoximately 1 hour from where she lives (SF, Ca), and I get to see her at least once a week right after work. We hang out, watch movies, go out to dinner that one night and usually it falls on a Thursday. Then on the weekends I take off to kayak and I would leave her at her place. I warned her when we first started seeing each other that my schedule is "work, kayak, school, kayak, oh... did I forget to mention kayaking". She understood at the time, but lately she's wanting to see me more and for me to take a Sat or Sun or both just to see her. I try to balance it out, but living out in 3-4 hours from where there's a river, makes it a very long drive and so I prefer to spend the weekend there.
I really like my gf, but don't want to give up the sport a whole lot. Is this an early sign of throwing in the towel? I try to get her out on the water, but she doesn't seem to have a knack for it. I also tried putting her in a rubber duckie and she liked it, but she was a bit of a sheltered child and not very athletic.
I'm kind of confused as to how to handle this because this has never happened to me before. Anyone with similar experience? I know of friends that dump their gf as soon as boating season begins and find themselves new ones when rivers aren't flowing.
Thnx...
