August 10, 2003
CLACKAMAS COUNTY -

An experienced kayaker from Tigard has drowned in the Clackamas River after his inflatable craft flipped and his foot became jammed under a rock.

The Clackamas County sheriff's office identified him as 29-year-old Thomas Philbrick.

he was kayaking downriver with two friends yesterday afternoon when the accident happened about 15 miles east of Estacada.

Philbrick's body was recovered yesterday evening after the level of the river was lowered by P-G-E.
