With flows down around 2900, the flat water isn't too bad. Just keep a stroke on, and it'll go by pretty quick. The alternative is to hitch a ride on a raft and drink beer all the way out. Either way, it's a beautiful place so there's no rush to leave.
Skull isn't really much of a play hole. The rock that forms it is sharp, and at these flows the pile's a bit sticky. If you flip upstream hit your deck so you don't smash your head. The better play is immediately following Skull. There's a section of standing waves. The first two are really good surfing at this level. Then, Sock-it-to-me (steep drop with a hole and eddy on river left) is really fun and dynamic at this level. It's kind of hard to stay in control, but you can get some pretty big bounces and air if you read the surge right.
Have fun.
