In short, it appears that a concussion/drowning or possible heart attack caused a 50 yr old paddler to die.
Initial rpts are that the paddler lost control in a CL V drop called the Narrows. He was unconscious by the time a paddler in his group lifted his head out of the water less than 60 seconds after he flipped. Rescue attempts failed, and the victim flushed through two more CL V water falls upside down before he was pulled to shore and CPR was administered.
An autopsy was performed Sunday morning...results are not yet known.
A St Lawerence Count paper identified the victim as Richard Ginsburg of Bellemead, NY. (VIC NY City)
Lots of paddlers were involved in some form trying to rescue the victim. I'm attempting to consolidate statements and combine the results of the autopsy to establish what most likely happened.
I will post here and on AW's Forum
