You are right upfront honest advertising would be the most beneficial to consumers, probably not best for sales though:)

I have always felt that many of the overseas manufacturers are off when it comes to listing sizes and weights. Not sure if it has something to do with a conversion factor or what. But I used to be a rep for bliss-stick and I had the same issue with their boats. Not just on the weight but on the volume as well. Take the superrad for instance which lists as 49 gallons but if you sit it next to the old version of the allstar, ( the middle version if you will ) and you will notice that it appears bigger than the allstar which is listed at 55 gallons not to mention that myself and many other paddlers who would be to big for a 49 gallon boat paddle the superrad with plenty of room and without sinking the ends.

And then look at the mystic which again weighs more than many of it's counterparts, but the online weight is 47lbs but it feels significantly heavier than the dagger nomad which is also listed at 46 lbs with the mamba 8.5 at 48 lbs.

The fluid solo is listed at 44 lbs but by comparison with above models and my experience with such I would say it is a few pounds heavier than each of the aforementioned boats which would put it closer to 50 - 52 lbs, which is also the same range I would include the mystic in.

Not sure why the data is inaccurate, but Gavin Rains who is on here regularly is the fluid rep and could probably shed a little more light on the weight issue.

In the end unfortunately what it comes down to is what's good for advertising isn't always what's best for the consumer.

Just to make a note all the above weights and volumes come direct from each respective mfg's website.

Later,

Jay
