There are engineers, marketers, salesman, reapair folks, patent lawyers, etc etc etc ad infinitum for anything you buy: car, computer, toothbrush, etc.

Somehow the idea of a guy on an assembly line appeals to some folks more than the entire slew of jobs associated with the widgets we buy.

I know people who design, market, offer tech support, offer legal advice, etc for things that aren't made in America.
