Reach way out there to the tip of your bow...this will allow you to thrust your hips forward as your body comes back to the vertical position. Your stroke will end at your hips. Combine this with lifting your knees.
Dont forget: 90% of getting a good boof is timing the stroke. Too early or too late and you'll go bow down. If it requires skipping a stroke and waiting for the final boof stroke, then do it. Most folks have problems because they think they need a lot of speed (in reality, you domnt need a lot of speed for a boof...just about the same speed as the water is flowing, unless you have to drive over dry rock or something like that) and they paddle hard all the way to the lip and then realize that they took one too many strokes and miss timing the boof stroke. The key to boofing is patience. Wait for it, then reach way out by your toes, plant the paddle blade, thrust your hips forward, lift with your knees and enjoy the view. |
