Throwing your weight back is an easy way to learn to boof, but it creates very bad habits.  You want to keep your torso as vertical as possible.  Shifting weight back only sets you up to be backendered.  Once over about 10', start to lean forward as you lift your knees.  Leaning forward takes pressure off of the spine upon impact.
