note Lets talk boofs... New

OK, so I ran the Russell Fork gorge this weekend which was a pretty big step up for me. I decided to sneak Towers, because I wasn't feeling super solid about my boof and had a lot of hype running through my head that was messing with my focus. I know that people say you are supposed to boof on the side of your falling edge. Its just not natural for me to do that. If I am running into something with right angle, I will typically take a right stroke to straighten me out... Now the only way that taking a left stroke would make any sense to me is if it is delayed. If my left edge starts falling over a drop then that would turn my boat left... maybe... and I would left stroke to keep me pointed right... correct?

I'm having trouble with what is natural versus what is taught. Are boofs supposed to be delayed strokes? The taught method is really awkward for me unless I delay it.
