You really don't want to replace the WRSI O-brace with the HOG system because it will ruin one of the key safety features of the helmet. The rigidity of the O-brace is what keeps the front of the helmet from sliding up and exposing your temple/forehead to unprotected impacts. The HOG system serves a similar function in an SR helmet but does so by squeezing the SR lid against your forehead which works as long as the helmet doesn't slip... a properly adjusted O-brace can't slip.
You can get a similar 'squeeze' from the O-brace with the following steps - please give this a try first. Once I made these adjustments, I also velcroed one of the extra front pads to the O-brace (more comfortable to me - your mileage may vary)

WRSI Current Strap Adjustment Instructions
If helmet fits well without straps (the shell can be outfitted with the supplied pads to fit your head, but the straps aren't working well) follow these instructions:
- Close the chin strap and hold the helmet upside down
- Pull on the chin strap and push against brim until the O- brace moves forward, away from the back of the helmet. You will notice as you pull on the chin strap the O- brace will tighten (move forward)
- After O-brace is forward make adjustments to the continental dividers (located at the 'Y' between the chin strap to the helmet connections) to make straps rest comfortably around your ears
- Put your helmet on.... and tighten chin strap. You should feel the O-brace nice and tight on the back of your head
- At this point... when you push back on the bill you will feel the O-brace tighten
(You are basically pre-loading the O-brace by making adjustments to straps with the O-brace in a forward position.) |
