After we finished our rescue practice yesterday, I took some folks down for their first time, so we scouted triple drop.
I noticed the new rock immediately since it was -5. After you come into the chute entering the rapid (passed the micro eddies that line up the entrance on the left). You come to the big diagonal hole (the first hole as you come down the slide). Right behind that hole is a new rock that looks kinda jagged and pointy.
At -5 the folks who took the left line slide over it. The folks who did the slide in entrance from the right hit just right of the new rock and went downstream. I entered right, angled left and landed in the hole to catch the RL eddy. All the lines seemed fine.
The trouble will be if you are there at lower water, I doubt you would go over the rock very easy at -7.
Also, if you flip in the top hole now you are going to catch a sharp rock in the head depending on which way you flip.
It seems that another sharp looking rock has also washed down just in front of the last big hole (the one with the wall blocking the left side).
Going through upside down has never been pleasent, but before you just kinda went over the smooth domed rocks, it is going to be much worse now.
Several other places have changed too. I noticed some rocks in the way of a chute we used to run just upstream of Hutleys also.
Sometimes you should scout even if you have been somewhere 500 times.
