The Historic Fayette Theatre, WELD, and The Cathedral Cafe are proud to announce the return of the 5th Annual Videoboaters Challenge. This local film festival returns after a one year hiatus, at 7PM in the Historic Fayette Theatre in downtown Fayetteville on Wednesday, September 24th, 2008. This years competition has a revamped line-up of categories, and we are expecting to have the richest prize pool yet. This years categories include: America's Best Whitewater; Best Trip Intro/Outro; Best Trip Skit, Best Transition/Fade, Best Sales Pitch, and finally, a category for Best Beat-down of rafts and kayaks!!! There will also be an Open category for videos that do not quite fit into the other categories, such as memorials, historical footage, or short films related to paddlesports. A reception and awards ceremony will follow at the Cathedral Cafe, right across the street.
The deadline for submission of entries is Monday, September 22nd, 2008. There will be NO VIDEOS ACCEPTED FOR COMPETITION at the show itself. This has been a past problem, and will not be in the future. Although a local festival, Gauley-bound videoboaters from outside WV are welcome to participate. Admission forms and guidelines are being distributed to local WV outfitters and video managers, or can be e-mailed to you by contacting me or the WELD office.
