"Rodeo is Dead" is just another campaign slogan, that is true.

I'm personally not too concerned with it either way - I don't follow competition on the local or national levels because I think the entire idea of competition in kayaking is a bunch of silly ego-stroking. But I've personally seen what I would consider to be resentment caused by the friction of largely working-class local events being invaded by largely trust-funded "pros". Whether or not that resentment speaks to our baser human nature or not is another issue entirely, but I don't think I'm being inaccurate in saying that it exists.
