The AT-2 is probably the nicest paddle design on the market - yes I'm biased but it's one great feeling stick.  The durability is very good - after years of construction revisions and tinkering the AT boys have got this sweet shape holding up really well.

No - it's not going to take big hits like a straight Skypole shaft - the ones on Werner Player and that sort.  Those poles are just bomber!   You'll wear the blades down but never break that shaft.

On the other hand, if you've been boating a while and aren't putting diggers in your current paddle, the AT-2 just 'feels' so much nicer and comes is a few choices:

SL - superlight is really flexi and LIGHT and is my favorite paddle right now.   I try to keep it off the rocky creeks and save it for play, but it gets the most use by far since I live at Rock Island in Winter, Ottawa late summer, and Gauley most seasons.

Standard - The carbon kevlar weave version is a bit heavier and feels 'stiffer' and maybe even more durable?
I'm keeping these 2 years instead of 1 now since they just seem bomber.   Broke my 2 yr old stick at Big Boy this year, but 30' waterfalls and cockpit rim hits are always a tough mix.  Ordered another immediately cause it's just what I creek with these days.  It's a great all-around layup.

Flexi - The flexi has about the same flex as the SL but a bit more weight.  Was my favorite paddle till the SL.  You have to be a bit more careful with this one as far as dropping it on rocks - or maybe it's just that you can see the little white impact areas through the translucent resin and glass?   The flex is great for sore shoulders and elbows and the weight is in between the other 2.

There are also the AT-3 and AT-4's available that offer a different bent shaft and 2-d blades for a reduced price.  These are good 'in between' sticks for those wanting to try the AT bent shaft for less money, and who don't mind a bit of extra weight.  Try em out and see what you think.

Hope this helps!
