I bought a Cascade with face cage after seeing a guy in our group take a nasty hit to the forehead in Cucumber on the lower Yough. I am able to get the face cage past my prescription glasses after loosening the strap in the lower back of the helmet. It's still plenty tight and I'm confident that it will stay put in an impact. My prescription sunglasses are a smaller "aviator" style and are even easier to use with the mask. I still use a Croakie retaining strap but I doubt that the glasses could come out without removing the helmet. I like wearing noseplugs too and have become so used to wearing them that I can just leave them on out on the river. If I know the river I may slip them on and off as needed, no problem EXCEPT when using hand paddles or wearing gloves. |
